A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Other EU Policies Section of the EU Delegation to Brazil, starting in mid October 2025.
The trainee will support the work of the Section and the Delegation on activities related to the digital transition agenda, the EU-Brazil macro-economic dialogue and science and technology cooperation as well as industrial policies, transport and satellite developments in Brazil
The “Other EU Policies” Section is composed of specialized officials posted in Brazil to represent the following Directorates-General of the European Commission: CNECT, GROW, ECFIN, MOVE, CLIMA, ENV, ENER, RTD, SANTE and DEFIS. Actively contributing to the EU-Brazil Strategic Partnership, the Section is in charge of steering bilateral initiatives related to industry and digital transformation; research, science and innovation; satellites and transport. To that end, the Section is maintaining a close relationship with relevant Ministries and stakeholders in private sector and civil society and work closely with EU Member States embassies and international and regional organisations. It also acts in close cooperation with relevant Commission operational services at Headquarters notably client DGs, and the EEAS.
Under the supervision and mentoring of a Trainee supervisor, this traineeship will provide a solid and meaningful professional and learning experience in a multicultural and international work environment, with a focus on supporting work on digital, industrial policies, macro-economic, transport, satellite, research and innovation cooperation with Brazil. The trainee will get the opportunity to learn about policies related to digital transition, including initiatives to regulate the use of artificial intelligence and online platforms, as well as possibilities for bilateral cooperation under the Horizon Europe programme. (S)he will get first hand exposure to how EU and the EU Member States work together in collaborating with Brazil in key areas of mutual interest. (S)he will also gain practical research and analytical skills, report drafting skills, as well as high-level event planning and organisational skills.
Main tasks:
Preparing background materials and reporting developments on Brazilian digital agenda and research and innovation topics;
Providing support for the organisation of the EU-Brazil Macroeconomic Dialogue.
Assisting with reporting on industrial policies developments in various key areas such as automotive, advance manufacturing and clean tech sectors in Brazil, as well as monitoring transport and critical raw materials relevant news.
Assisting with preparations of briefings and organisation of meetings with external stakeholders, including logistical help with the preparation of visits from EU HQs;
Attending and reporting on meetings, seminars, conferences, or other events.
Identifying strategic partners and potential topics for cooperation under the Horizon Europe programme, using tools such as the Funding and Tenders Portal.
Providing follow-up support regarding the latest EU-Brazil Joint Steering Committee Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation.
Supporting the daily work of the “Other EU Policies” Section through administrative and analytical tasks.
