The Department of Pathology has an excellent reputation in pure biological and biomedical research and is offering three fully funded* studentships from October 2016 to work with one of the Research Group Leaders in this large and vibrant Department. Funding is available for up to 4 years.
Funding* will cover the entire cost of University and College fees and a stipend of £14057 pa, subject to eligibility**.
The list of available projects is shown below. Applicants can select up to a maximum of three supervisors/projects, although this is not a requirement.
Applicants should hold or be about to achieve a First or Upper-Second (2.i) class degree in a relevant subject.

- Dr Rupert Beale/Dr Stephen Graham – Viral Subversion of Autophagy
- Dr Louise Boyle – The role of TAPBPR in professional antigen presenting cells
- Dr Ian Brierley – Translational control of virus gene expression through protein-stimulated ribosomal frameshifting
- Professor Ming Du – KLF2 mutation and its molecular oncogenic mechanism in lymphoma
- Dr Brian Ferguson/Dr John Doorbar – Innate immune sensing of high- and low- risk papillomaviruses
- Professor Vassilis Koronakis – Remodelling of the mammalian host cell cytoskeleton by the intracellular bacterial pathogen Salmonella
- Dr Matthew Murray – The role of cancer-derived exosomal microRNAs in tumour progression
- Professor Christine Watson – DNA replication and breast cancer
