RomArchive is devised as an international digital archive for art of the Roma – a constantly growing collection of art from all fields, enhanced by scholarly texts and historical documents. The archive’s magazine-‐style web interface, with images and stories providing vivid introductions, and its aesthetic appeal will inspire users to delve deeper into the topics presented. RomArchive will go online in 2018.
Until then, the curators’ work and the overall development of the project can be tracked on a blog, on Facebook, Twitter, or (in the analogue world) at supporting cultural events in various European cities. Roma will shape the archive in all positions of responsibility – ascurators, artists, scholars,a nd members of the project’s advisory board. The curators will determine the contents of the archive: on the basis of their curatorial principles, they will select an gather works of art from the fields of film, photography, visual arts, theatre, music, dance and literature. RomArchive is thus addressed not only to Europe’s largest minority, but also to Europe’s social majorities. RomArchive is looking for a key visual free of persistent stereotypes and folcloristic clichés. The key visual should be minimalist, plain and simple and has to include all these subtitles:
- RomArchive
- Digital Archive of the Roma
- Digitales Archiv der Sinti und Roma
- Romano Digitalno Archivo
Renumeration
