10 Postdoctoral & 10 Researcher Positions, University of Turku, Finland (2016)

Turku Institute for Advanced Studies (TIAS) invites applications for 10 postdoctoral and 10 collegium researcher positions TIAS invites applications for ten (10) post-doctoral and five (5) collegium researcher positions for three-year periods starting from 1 January 2017 and five (5) collegium researcher positions starting from 1 January 2018.

The purpose of the Turku Institute for Advanced Studies is to promote cutting-edge university research in the humanities and social sciences. These include studies in arts and literature, cultural studies, history, archaeology, languages, linguistics, speech and language pathology, business studies, economics, education, law, philosophy, political science, psychology, social policy, social work, sociology and research methodologies.

TIAS will appoint researchers for two different positions: junior postdoctoral researchers starting 1 January 2017 and senior collegium researchers starting 1 January 2017 and 1 January 2018. TIAS selects researchers through an international call for applications. The call is open to all researchers in the respective fields. However, tenured professors are not eligible. Successful candidates must provide evidence of their ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment of high international standard. A doctoral degree must be completed by the end of the application period and applicants are also expected to have attained other academic achievements. The Board of the Institute will select applicants on the basis of external experts’ evaluations. In the selection process, particular attention will be paid to the candidate’s research proposal and engagement in international academic networks.

Applicants are requested to demonstrate a linkage with the research activities of the University of Turku. For this purpose, applicants must have a letter of commitment from one of the departments at the University of Turku stating that it undertakes to serve as the site of the research and provide the researcher with basic facilities and services.

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The salary for Postdoctoral Research positions correspond to a requirement level 5 and personal performance level 4 euro-denominated salary (3 326, 61 €/ month). The salary for collegium researcher positions correspond to a requirement level 7 and personal performance level 4 euro-denominated salary (4 471, 39 €/ month). Progress in the researcher’s personal performance can be taken into account when determining the salary during the employment.
