Affiliated with the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research and the University of Basel, the FMI is at the interface of academic research and biomedical application. FMI students are exposed to the latest in molecular approaches, and are encouraged to examine the biomedical application of their discoveries.
The FMI International PhD Program provides advanced, interdisciplinary training in epigenetics, neurobiology and quantitative biology. Students receive theoretical and practical training, and conduct a research project under the supervision of an FMI Group leader and monitored by a Thesis Committee of university professors and experts.
The FMI has excellent technical resources. Students learn advanced techniques and are introduced to experimental analysis at multiple levels of biological organization.
