Program Support Coordinator at "Médecins du Monde" (Athens)

For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.

MdM intervention aims to address humanitarian and political objectives, to articulate an operational dimension along with testimony and advocacy for a change in European migration policies border control in order to organize safe migration routes. The main objective of the intervention is to contribute to the reduction of the morbidity and the mortality of migrants during their migratory pattern.

In Greece, the reception infrastructure, services and registration procedures are falling dramatically short of needs. At all main entry points, there is a lack of adequate reception conditions resulting in serious hygiene, health and protection risks. The limited capacity to respond creates a tense and dramatic situation. The increasing backlog in registration and the lack of availability of ferry tickets leads to major congestion on most of the islands, particularly on Lesvos and Chios.

The organization in Greece seeks for:

- Program support Coordinator (Athens with regular field visits (Aegean islands).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in projects funded by international donors
- Knowledge of migration flows in Mediterranean Sea an asset
- Knowledge or interest on advocacy issue is an asset.

REQUIREMENTS:
- English (spoken - written - read) is compulsory. Greek is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of Windows environment (Word, Excel...)

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a similar position
- Experience with an international NGO working in emergency contexts, managing programmes, preferably within the health sector
- Previous experience of project planning and budget holding; proposal and report writing
- Experience in project management
- Previous experience with Médecins du Monde is mandatory
- Experience working with Médecins du Monde international network is an asset.
