The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) is seeking applications for a faculty position in Hospitality & Tourism Management at the rank of Instructor/Assistant or Associate Professor who would also serve as the coordinator of the new Master of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management program. The position is a full-time assignment for the academic year 2016-2017. In addition to teaching the person responsible will provide a high standard of academic related administrative support to the program under the guidance of the Chair of the Anatolia School of Business. In return the coordinator will enjoy a limited teaching load.
As a program coordinator will be responsible for:
- Program development
- Day-to-day administration and record keeping
- Communication with industry professionals and experts
- Courses development and review
- Faculty selection and evaluation
- Course administration
- Student recruitment and admissions
- Conversion activities to promote the program in cooperation with other ACT departments
Qualifications, Skills, Abilities
(Please note that the official language of ACT is English; proficiency in written and oral English is essential). All candidates should cover the following desired qualifications:
- A Doctoral degree in the related field. Applicants with a Master’s degree will be considered only at the rank of Instructor. Published work in peer reviewed journals and conferences will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the contemporary business developments will be appreciated.
- Experience working with a diverse population of students of various ethnic backgrounds is valuable.
- Previous experience in college level teaching.
- Proven experience in the hospitality and tourism industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills as well as proficiency in online teaching platforms (i.e. Moodle etc.) are necessary.
- A passion for the topic and the capacity to deliver results.
- Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of an American liberal arts college is helpful.
The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) is the post-secondary education division of Anatolia, a historic institution established in 1886 that operates in Thessaloniki, Greece. ACT is licensed to operate as a College by the Greek Ministry of Education and is accredited in the United States by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Additionally, ACT’s undergraduate programs hold validation by the British Open University. All ACT undergraduate students receive two degrees: a US degree accredited by NEASC and a European degree awarded by the Open University.
