The Medical optics research group led by Prof. Turgut Durduran at ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona, Spain is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in a multi-disciplinary project working with physicists, engineers and neonatologists.
This project is part of international consortia to develop and deploy a diffuse optical spectroscopy and diffuse correlation spectroscopy system for monitoring and imaging the baby brain. The focus is on neuro-monitoring at the intensive care but includes collaborations in neuroscience applications of the functional imaging of the neonatal brain.
Candidates must hold an internationally recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the near future) in a relevant field.
Scientific background: Previous experience with diffuse optics for medicine including instrumentation as well as theoretical background. Knowledge in dynamic light scattering and time resolved spectroscopic methods are a plus. Demonstrated experience in translational research in particular in clinical settings is important. A strong publication record and the contact information of three referees is needed.
Computational background must include advanced Matlab/Octave, C/C++ programming, LabView (or similar hardware control platforms) . Demonstrated strength in other similar programming languages/platforms may replace some of the languages.
Experience with opto-electronic instrumentation including photo-multiplier tubes, avalanche photo diodes, photon-counting hardware, basic micro-controller use is a plus.
Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. No restrictions of citizenship or gender apply to the ICFO positions.
