At Oxfam, we are people who believe in justice and solidarity, and work to change the world. We are acting in a comprehensive way in around ninety countries of Africa, Latin America and Asia, Europe working on more than 500 development and humanitarian action projects; we promote fair trade and social awareness and mobilization campaigns. Reporting to the Head of Programs, the person selected will be the reference and the representative of the Organization in the field, coordinating the activities of the project and managing all the resources in order to guarantee that the objectives are met in line with the policies and strategies of Oxfam . Oxfam was created during the Greece faming in since 1962 and after 62 years Oxfam is back in Greece to support in the emergency intervention response since September 2015 Oxfam engaged in a needs assessment in Athens and the islands of Lesvos and Kos, focused on the People on the Move and the existing humanitarian aid capacity. Since mid-October 2015 Oxfam has been implementing a multi-sectoral response focused on Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), provision of Food aid and Non- Food Item (NFI) distribution, with a particular focus on winter garments and hygiene items. Protection of individuals, particularly the most vulnerable cases, advocacy programs.
The organization in Greece seeks for:
- Program Coordinator (Position based in Lesvos or Athens or Eidomeni).
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 8 years of senior management experience within the humanitarian and/or development sector.
- Experience in leading the development, and ensuring the delivery, of program strategy, either through partners or direct implementation.
- Experience of working in at least one of the three key refugee-producing countries (Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan).
- Proven understanding of Oxfam’s key areas of intervention: including gender, protection, advocacy, NFIs, Food and Wash.
- Experience and proven success in fundraising from diverse institutions, local, regional and international.
- Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically, including the ability to think beyond the country program context and to act within a regional and global framework.
- Ability to manage the development of, and contribute to, the high level analysis of factors driving poverty & food insecurity, marginalization and vulnerability in developing country contexts, including the ability to ‘think politically’ by understanding motivations, pressures and challenges faced by colleagues, partners and other actors.
- Experience in leading and motivating large multi-disciplinary teams, a high degree of self-awareness and an understanding of how to drive and support excellent team performance and individual development.
- Experience in representing an organization with partners, government agencies, private sector organizations, and donors at senior level: locally, regionally and globally.
- An active commitment to promoting gender equity and the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of an organization’s work.
- High level financial management experience of managing multi-million euro budgets
- Proven commitment to Oxfam’s values, including to promoting gender equality and women’s rights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence, and negotiate
- Ability to speak and write professional English, proficiency in Greece is an asset.
