Job Description: Anatolia College is seeking a Service Learning Coordinator. The coordinator reports to the Vice President of Secondary Education and will work collaboratively with academic and other campus departments and community agencies to support the school’s academic service-learning programs as well as provide extra-curricular volunteer service experiences and internships (summer and yearlong) for students. The Coordinator works closely with key members of faculty and staff in all three divisions regarding the design, development, and implementation of the academic Service Learning Program and community service events.
- A 10 month, full time position: September 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017, with option for renewal
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Anatolia College Director of Student Services, the Service as Action Coordinator, the two U.S. Counseling Office & Special Programs Office Counselors, the IBDP CAS Coordinator, the Elementary School Directors and also the ACT Student Services Coordinator, with the goal to maintain an overview of all community service events and activities throughout the institution and in particular facilitate the community outreach necessary in programming.
- Work closely with the College Relations Office to share information in service learning programs and developments in service learning community partnerships.
- Explore opportunities for student service learning and leadership experiences at a variety of community agencies. This includes site visits (potentially outside of school hours). Maintain contact with appropriate staff at community agencies, and serve as a liaison between those agencies and Anatolia.
- Coordinate events to connect service learners with appropriate service opportunities (e.g., charity drives, speaker panels, extracurricular volunteer opportunities that could be a one-time event or an annual event).
- Gather and act upon feedback from the community partners, students and faculty.
- Record, file and maintain a database of all resources and contacts related to the Anatolia community, as well as documentation of student experiences.
- Update the volunteering policy guide that can be shared throughout the institution as well as forms used in the S.L. programs (including Volunteer Rights & Expectations, Parent Permission Slips, Safety and Feedback Questionnaires).
Desired Qualifications and abilities:
- University Degree
- Experience in Service Learning and/or relevant fields
- Excellent oral and written communication skills both in Greek and English language
- Experience in community outreach
- Experience in event planning
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Initiative in creating and implementing new projects and service opportunities
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility in working hours and availability during some weekends when necessary.
