This position will play a key role in supporting NRC in the delivery of its new refugee response programme in Greece. Responding to a fluid situation, which to date has seen more than 1 Million refugees and asylum seekers cross from Turkey into Greece, NRC has a dynamic and fast evolving refugee response programme in Greece. Current activities are centred on the island of Chios where NRC is assisting in managing the flow of arrivals on island level as well as within the Vial Reception and Identification Centre (‘Hotspot’), and providing humanitarian assistance. NRC is currently undertaking assessments with a view to expanding response activities to replicate NRC’s multi-sectoral site management support approach for new planned sites and camps on the mainland. The Protection and Advocacy Adviser will play a key role in identifying priority protection concerns, strengthening incorporation of protection and advocacy into all aspects of NRC’s activities and guiding NRC’s advocacy messaging to promote an improved protection and humanitarian response environment for refugees arriving in Europe.
This post is for 12 months, with a possibility of extension, and reports to the Special Programme Adviser based in Oslo.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience from working as a Protection and Advocacy Adviser/Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Professional knowledge of humanitarian and protection principles
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Valid driver’s license
