The positions are located in the three research units of the Faculty of Education:
1. Postdoctoral position in the Learning and Learning Processes research unit
The position is located in the Learning and Learning Processes research unit, in which the research focuses on the learning of individuals and groups in different learning environments. Special characteristics of the research include technology in support of learning and teaching, interaction, and the processes connected with wellbeing. Research on learning and learning processes involves the utilization of the Leaf Research Space (leaforum.fi) in research and multidisciplinary research cooperation. The research methods focus on process-oriented methods and in the use of technology in data collection.
2. Postdoctoral position in the Teachers, Teaching and Educational Communities research unit
The position is located in the Teachers, Teaching and Educational Communities research unit researching teachers’ identity construction and the work of educators in different educational and teaching environments. A special focus is on the relationships between these environments and the individuals. The research unit is involved in childhood research and broadly based teacher research, and in the development of innovative research methods. The research unit encompasses the degree programs in special education, music education and early childhood education. The unit is also in charge of secondary teacher education and university pedagogy.
3. Postdoctoral position in the Values, Ideologies and Societal Contexts of Education research unit
The position is located in the Values, Ideologies and Societal Contexts of Education research unit, which studies the theoretical and philosophical basis, underlying values and societal contexts of education and educational research. Education and educational research are examined as historically built phenomena and mindsets. The objective is to construct a critical theoretical and practical understanding of education, the value basis and social contexts of education, and pedagogy. The areas of research/disciplines of science represented by the unit are global education, education, educational psychology, psychology, sociology, and gender studies. The research carried out in the unit is characterized by methodological variety and innovativeness.
A successful candidate is required to have a track record showing a strong orientation towards research and high-level publication activities, and to the development of national and international research cooperation. The appointee is also expected to contribute actively to the acquisition of research funding.
