The constant flux of migrants entering and transiting through Macedonia and Greece used to represent a major challenge to local aid structures and efforts. With about 3,000 people crossing their borders on a daily basis and potential changes in migratory routes, the two states used to be under intense pressure. Despite the solidarity shown by many private local actors, the efforts made by municipalities and the work of the national societies of the Red Cross, the transit points needed improvement in order to be able to register and accommodate large populations, particularly during winter.
Solidarités International has been starting assessment and small operations on the field since September 2015. As of today, SI is starting to implement operations in Macedonia financed by CDC.
