The School of Economics is delighted to announce that we have four fully-funded PhD studentships available in the area of credit and labour market foundations in macroeconomics commencing autumn 2016.
MacCaLM is an ESRC-sponsored research project bringing together a group of leading economists to re-examine macroeconomic theory, focussing on how malfunctions in labour and financial markets seem to be at the root of macroeconomic failure. The key objectives are to re-visit the theory of macroeconomics and study the interplay between credit and labour markets, in the light of the global financial crisis, as well as engage with policy makers and other stakeholders and propose research-based solutions and policies.
Applications are welcomed from exceptional candidates who have obtained a distinction in a recognised Master’s degree in economics. The studentships will provide successful candidates with the opportunity to work as part of the project led by Professor John Hardman Moore. The venture includes nine other co-investigators from the School of Economics at Edinburgh together with international investigators from Princeton, Michigan, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Amsterdam and Stockholm.
Funding
The Scholarship covers tuition fees in addition to an annual stipend of £17,142.
