To be admitted in the programme, students have to apply with a structured research project (including research question, objectives and research plan) that they prepare in collaboration with their potential and desired supervisor.
Apart from the research project, candidates need to fulfill the existing admission criteria of the PhD Program in Psychology as they have been accredited by A3ES, namely students can apply if they:
a) have a master degree in Psychology or legal equivalent and have a master degree in other Sciences that are recognized by the Social and Organizational Psychology Department;
b) have a bachelor degree in Psychology and have a bachelor degree in other Sciences with a relevant educative or scientific CV that are recognized by the Social and Organizational Psychology Department;
c) have an educative, scientific or professional track record that is recognized by the Social and Organizational Psychology Department as adequate for pursuing this cycle of studies.
For the candidates who have a master degree in scientific domains other than psychology the Social and Organizational Psychology Department, after hearing the supervisor can recommend further complementary training. The approval of the candidate in the first year will be dependent upon the successful completion of the courses defined for this complementary training.
All candidates should have as supervisor a PhD in Psychology or related scientific domain with a track record that is relevant for the area of the PhD project.
Non-Portuguese candidates are expected to take residence in Portugal for the duration of the PhD (except for the periods in which they engage in research internships abroad).
