An Intensive Program on the subject: “Analysis and Management of Anthropogenic Natural Hazards and Disasters” will take place during 29/08/2016-11/09/2016, on Naxos Islands, Cyclades, Greece.
The Intensive Programme is organized from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with Aix-Marseille University, University of Trieste and University of Haifa, in the framework of the project "McAgenda", funded by Erasmus+.
The Programme comprises of background subjects covering most of the theoretical aspects of Natural Hazards.
The Topics that will be covered include:
- Surface gravity movements/Landslides
- Landslide risk assessment
- Mudflows-risk assessment
- Coastal landslides and erosion
- Cliff stability and retreat rates
- Forest fires: management, characteristics and prediction
- Vulnerability of Soils/Risk of Erosion
- River floods / flood risk
- Extreme weather events
- Coastal erosion
- Coastal geoarchaeology and
- neocatastrophism.
The Intensive Programme will consist of classes (theory, computer exercises, field and laboratory work), self-depended study and field trips.
Student selection:
- 5 Master or PhD students per country
- CV evaluation and interview.
