The EUREKA Network is supported by the EUREKA Secretariat (ESE) which provides administrative support to the Chair and the participating countries.
The EUREKA Chair is now seeking a person to manage the EUREKA Secretariat and to develop the services to support the Chair and the network at operational level. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the efficiency of the Secretariat, including the IT services, keeping costs and bureaucracy to the minimum and motivating a high quality staff.
The EUREKA Secretariat is located in Brussels with a team of more than 30 international staff members.
The EUREKA Secretariat:
supports all activities of the EUREKA Chair and the Network
implement the Eurostars Programme and supports all the other EUREKA instruments (as for today Clusters, Eureka-Innovest, Network projects and Umbrellas)
works together with the member countries to develop the future role of EUREKA
The Head of the EUREKA Secretariat, under the instruction of the governing bodies of EUREKA, is entrusted with:
assisting the EUREKA Chair in preparing and implementing its annual programme
keeping contacts with participating countries and the European Commission
implementation of the Eurostars Programme
development and renewal of EUREKA in collaboration with the Network
The Head of the EUREKA Secretariat, among its 'independent' duties, is entrusted with:
the daily management of the Secretariat (people management, work plan, etc)
implements the Annual Resource Plan of the Secretariat
As for the “EUREKA Secretariat AISBL”, the Head of the ESE is entrusted with:
day to day administrative management of the Association
administrative implementation of EUROSTARS
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A university degree, preferably in industry-relevant science or economics
WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least 10 years of professional experience in business, industry and/or public administration, several years of which are at an international level
At least 5 years of senior management experience
Experience in dealing with national/multilateral/European R&D&I issues. Running research and development programs would be considered as an advantage
Experience in developing and changing organizations is an advantage
Experience from working with industrial R&D&I is an advantage
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
High level of fluency in English (written and oral), the main working language of the organization, is a must. Good level in French (written and oral), as all the Association documents are in French. A good level of fluency in other European languages will be considered as an advantage.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
This full time position is offered for a 4-year contract with a possibility of a single prolongation for another 4 years, under Belgian employment legislation and tax regime.
The place of work is Brussels, Belgium. The Head of ESE is supposed to spend most of his/her time in the office. However, the job requires a significant amount of time to travel.
Taking into account the scope of responsibilities, the level or remuneration will be in line with that of a comparable high level position.
