The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden – in short IFW – is a legally and economically independent research institution and a member of the Leibniz Association. The five in-stitutes of the IFW operate in joint research programs (in four fields: functional materials, quantum materials, nanoscale materials, towards products) and have the level of equipment, which befits an internationally leading research facility.

At the Institute for Metallic Materials (Prof. K. Nielsch) of the IFW Dresden in the frame of the joint project "Flexible large thermoelectric components (GroTEGx)”
3 project positions for PhD candidates and/or postdocs are to be filled on the following topics:
- development of electrochemical deposition processes for metallic thermoelectric materials with high power factors as well as appropriate contact materials
- process development for the fabrication of flexible TEGs using microlithography and galvanic dep-osition
- TEG modeling and design strategies for optimal contact resistance, heat fluxes and thermoelectric transport
We are seeking highly motivated applicants with a university degree (Master / Diploma) or PhD in physics, materials science, chemistry, electrical engineering or a relevant subject, who are interested in interdisciplinary, applied research and creatively contribute their own ideas into the team. Very good communication skills in English (spoken and written) are also expected.
