The Chain Florey Clinical Research Fellowship Scheme presents clinical trainees with a unique opportunity to study basic science supported by two world-renowned academic institutions, Imperial College London and the Medical Research Council Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC). The scheme has a variety of PhD projects on offer which focus specifically on basic science rather than on clinical research.
Chain Florey Clinical Research Fellowships provide an ideal base for those wishing to pursue a career in clinical academia. You should possess prior laboratory experience and need to demonstrate the skill base and motivation for a basic science PhD; each Fellow is expected to complete their PhD within the duration of the appointment.
The CSC is a world-class Research Institute closely linked to the Faculty of Medicine of Imperial College London, at its Hammersmith Hospital Campus. The Institute has a history of welcoming clinicians into its labs to carry out basic and applied research as part of their training.
The Fellowships are available to successful applicants who are EEA nationals. Posts are fully funded for 3 years and the PhD is expected to be completed within this period, after which the post holder will return to their postgraduate clinical training. During the appointment successful applicants are required to hold an appropriate honorary contract with the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
