UQ is seeking to recruit researchers to join the newly established ARC Training Centre for Biopharmaceutical Innovation.
The ARC Training Centre for Biopharmaceutical Innovation (CBI), located within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN), is enhancing Australia’s pharmaceutical capabilities through dedicated research and development programs with leading industrial partners. The Centre conducts research in three thematic areas: new biopharmaceutical and diagnostic agent discovery; development of mammalian cells as factories for recombinant protein production; and advanced manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals. The CBI is supported by industry partners CSL Limited, GE Healthcare, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and Patheon Biologics Australia Pty Ltd.
The Centre is seeking to recruit five postdoctoral researchers to establish the Centre.
The role: The postdoctoral research fellows will perform top-quality, high impact research in biopharmaceutical discovery, delivery and production. Biopharmaceuticals are recombinant-DNA-derived therapeutic proteins and include monoclonal antibodies, coagulation factors, hormones, growth factors and cytokines. Biopharmaceuticals are able to treat a variety human disease indications including cancer, inflammatory disease, blood-related clotting disorders and infectious disease. Postdoctoral research positions are available in biopharmaceutical: discovery and delivery; upstream bioprocessing; downstream bioprocessing; production and characterization; and blood cell diagnostics.
The person: Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant field and have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Molecular biology; protein chemistry; mammalian cell culture; mass spectrometry proteomics; or glycoproteomics. You should have an evidence of a contribution to research, including publications in referred journals and conference abstracts with highly developed team work and communication skills.
