The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) is a joint institution of the Department of History and the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University (Germany). The BGHS is a learning community of doctoral researchers and invites applications for six doctoral positions. The maximum duration is 3 years starting 1 April 2017.
We are seeking highly motivated researchers with genuine interest in an academic environment that fosters creativity through interdisciplinary exchange. Successful candidates are expected to conduct research within the doctoral programme, and in the end receive the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in history or sociology. The BGHS promotes research in the fields of sociology, history, political science, social anthropology and didactics of social sciences in the research fields available at the BGHS.
Eligibility
- Have Master’s degree or equivalent in sociology, history, political science, social anthropology or gender studies, Inter-American Studies (IAS) or History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science (HPSS);
- Applications from related disciplines are welcome;
- Women and candidates with an international background are encouraged to apply;
- Qualified candidates with severe disabilities or similarly disabled candidates are explicitly encouraged to apply.
