This year the Department of Geography at the University of Leicester has PhD funding from AHRC and ESRC Doctoral Training Partnerships. As a Department, we welcome applications across a range of critical and creative geography topics, covering social scientific aspects of human geography and the geohumanities.
We are keen to receive application from high quality applicants interested in researching topics including (but not limited to) the following themes:
- Austerity and the restructuring of spaces of community
- Creative resistance to global gentrifications
- Post-Craft/’Artisanal’ production and consumption
- Political economy of anonymous online spaces: the role of dark markets, crypto-currencies, and blockchain technologies in economic and development geographies
- More-than-representational geographies of nature
- Nature writing, digital humanities and valuing the environment
- Political ecology, conservation politics, and environmental justice/governance
PhD students will be based within our new Centre for Critical and Creative Geographies.
