The imec-SMIT Smart Cities programme and experience is concerned with social, economic, and policy issues arising from innovations associated with the ICTs. Specific lines of inquiry include the management of technological innovation in cities, companies and communities; platform/mobile app business models; (new) media users, ‘cultures of expertise’ and citizen science; mediation of social and economic life, theoretical perspectives; Internet of Things; digital skills and e-inclusion; nature-based solutions; sustainability and resilience; circular economy; software and algorithmic accountability; open data; organizational change management; public safety; healthy city living; ethics, privacy and trust; government affairs/EU (EMEIA) relations; policy; management consulting
It is looking for 3 full-time researchers who will undertake applied and fundamental research on some of these topics, such as policy and business models for so-called smart applications and services.
These positions are not specifically intended as a PhD track, although the research activities may lead hereto in a later stage.
Applications are invited from researchers with an interest in urban studies, smart cities, software studies, big data, and ubiquitous computing from a social sciences perspective to work in an interdisciplinary team of about 20 people.
