Several doctoral and postdoctoral positions in computational biology / metabolic engineering are available in Steffen Klamt’s group at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg (Germany). Our group develops and applies algorithms and computational techniques for mathematical modeling and targeted modification of biological networks. One particular focus is the application of computational methods for the rational metabolic engineering of microorganisms to optimize biotechnological processes.
For a larger research project, which is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and combines innovative computational and experimental techniques to establish a new design principle for engineering microbial cell factories, we are looking for talented and highly motivated doctoral students and postdocs that will jointly work in a dedicated interdisciplinary research team. Candidates should have an excellent degree or/and experience in one or several of the following fields:
- systems biology
- synthetic biology
- biochemical engineering / biosystems engineering
- chemical engineering
- biotechnology
- metabolic engineering
- microbiology
- genetics
- computational biology
- bioinformatics
- computer science
- mathematics
- physics
