The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a Computational Scientist position. The successful candidate will be working at CaSToRC of the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia, carrying out activities for the EU project PRACE (http://www.prace-project.eu/) regarding the development of advanced parallel methods, prototyping for future computer architectures and optimization of codes. In particular, the work involves the development of scientific codes for applications in Climate change, lattice gauge theory, and computational fluid dynamics for hybrid architectures like Infiniband-coupled clusters accelerated with NVIDIA GPUs or Intel MIC. The successful candidate will be involved in a joint effort among European partners to develop the next generation of advanced computer codes for exascale computers and GPUs.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computational Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry or Engineering
- Experience in HPC applications
- Experience with developing scalable codes for scientific applications
- Significant experience with large-scale parallel computations in Fortran, C and/or C++
- Analytical problem solving ability
- Proficiency in oral and written English. Knowledge of the Greek language will be considered an advantage.
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
