The Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Joint European Doctorate NITROS projects will guide 12 very talented and highly motivated Early Stage Researchers through a Double PhD program. The Consortium of University is composed by some of the most important players on rotorcraft engineering training and research at European level: Politecnico di Milano, Technische Universiteit Delft, University of Glasgow and University of Liverpool.
Each research program is focused on a problem that affects the safety of the current or innovative rotorcraft configurations. The possible implications of the problem in terms of manufacturing, operations and certification procedures will be thoroughly discussed with the industrial partners: Leonardo, NLR Netherlands Aerospace Centre, Max Plank Institute for for Biological Cybernetics, Eurocontrol, CAA Civial Aviation Authority, Bristow, Renewable UK.
The succesful candidate will work on developing innovative safety approaches in a unique cross-disciplinary research and training program encompassing Control Engineering, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Modelling and Simulation, Structural Dynamics and Human perception cognition and action, in order to address complex solutions for rotorcraft safety.
As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in Graduate Schools of prestigious European universities. The NITROS network provides an inspiring research environment; an excellent team of supervisors and a specifically tailored Doctoral Education Programme aimed at developing your transferable, discipline-related and research skills.
