The Department of Electronics at the University of York undertakes world-leading research in a number of areas of electronic and computer engineering. The most recent Research Excellence Framework results judged that 87% of our research was World Leading or Internationally Excellent. Following appointments and funding initiatives the Department has available up to 6 fully funded PhD studentships starting in the 2015/16 academic year. The studentships will cover the tuition fee at the home/EU rate (£4,052 in 2015/16) and a stipend at the standard research council rate for a period of 3 years (£14,057 in 2015/16).
These studentships will be focused in the following areas:
- Physical layer security for wireless communications
- Cooperative communications for 5G autonomous networks
- Bio-inspired architecture design
- Evolutionary algorithms for the diagnosis and monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases
- Evolution of immunity for robotic systems
- Development of a spin transistor
- Computational electromagnetics for advanced materials or biomedical applications
To be considered, you must have at least an upper second class honours degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related subject.
