Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering invites applications for
Post Doc Positions in following research fields:
Inorganic Materials Chemistry (prof. Maarit Karppinen): Research on functional oxide materials towards e.g. oxygen-storage, thermoelectric, magnetic or optical applications using a variety of synthesis (such as ultra-high-pressure) and structure/property characterization techniques.
Electrochemistry (prof. Tanja Kallio and Lasse Murtomäki): Research on electrochemical energy conversion and storage, e.g. lithium ion batteries or redox flow battery. Emphasis is put on development of materials and device performance.
Advanced and Functional Materials (prof. Simo-Pekka Hannula): Research on magnetic shape memory alloys, high entropy alloys, nanocomposite powders and their compaction, properties and applications.
Synthetic Organic Chemistry (prof. Jan Deska and Ari Koskinen): Research on synthesis method development for the preparation of polyene architectures based on organometallic chemistry/transition metal catalysis techniques, and multicatalytic strategies including e.g. enzymatic or photochemical activation.
Microfabrication for microfluidics (prof. Sami Franssila): Research in microfabrication with applications in e.g. superhydrophobic surfaces, BioMEMS, thin films and hybrid materials. Ideally, good command of cleanroom-based microfabrication (lithography, etching, bonding, deposition, especially ALD) needed. Additionally, microfluidics, soft lithography, PDMS, surface modification, SAMs, capillarics, cell chips, hydrogels.
Nanochemistry and materials modelling (Prof. Mady Elbahri and Antti Karttunen): Research on inorganic mesostructures and self-organized superstructures, including both materials synthesis with diverse morphologies and atomistic materials modelling with quantum chemical methods.
Carbon-based nanomaterials (prof. Jari Koskinen): Research on PVD thin films, and bio-sensing. Experimental research in materials and thin film processing and characterization.

Requirements
Successful candidates shall have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics or related field. The ideal candidate has a good knowledge in the research field of that particular position. Good command of English is a necessary prerequisite.
