The research group of Molecular Entomology (PI: John Vontas) of IMBB/FORTH, Crete, Greece is interested to employ a senior postdoctoral researcher to work on a project looking for novel insecticide targets in insect guts. The project will adopt a holistic biotechnology - driven approach, using state of the art technologies (proteomic, functional, transgenic, advanced cell-based assays etc) to improve understanding of insect gut biology and enable the identification and characterization of unique and vital targets in insect pest guts (Lepidoptera and/or Hemiptera). The successful candidate must have a strong background in insect gut physiology and a focus on processes of uptake and metabolism in insect guts. Experience with assays involving transport of compounds (proteins, peptides, RNA, small molecules) across gut barriers is an important plus.
Qualifications:
- PhD and Post-doctoral experience in Biology / Molecular Biology / Biochemistry / related fields, as specified.
