SPITFIRE DTP is a NERC funded Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) creating an innovative multi-disciplinary experience for the effective training of future leaders in environmental science, engineering, technology development, business, and policy.
SPITFIRE students will be registered at the University of Southampton and will undertake their PhD project research within the University or one of the hosting partner organisations. Unique features of SPITFIRE include opportunities for placements at a range of prestigious international research organisations or industrial and policy partners.
Entry Criteria:
Successful candidates are likely to have the following qualifications:
- BSc/MSci 2:1
- and/or Masters (MSc or MRes) at Merit/Distinction level (>60%)
- and/or evidence of significant relevant professional experience equivalent to Masters level
from the following disciplines:
Earth or Environmental Science disciplines, any numerate discipline, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Oceanography or Marine Science, Computer Science. Please check projects for relevance to other disciplines.
Each SPITFIRE project comes with a fully funded studentship for UK students and EU students who meet the RCUK eligibility criteria.
