Joseph Binder Award 2018 – Colour Form

The Joseph Binder Award 2018 competition, with the motto: Colour and form are inseparable, has opened for entry to creatives worldwide.

Graphic designers, illustrators, advertising agencies and students from all over the world are invited to enter their works realized in 2016 and after. Entries are accepted in 3 main categories: Graphic Design, Illustration and Design Fiction.

In each category, a Joseph Binder Award in gold, silver, and bronze will be awarded in the form of trophies: the ball of crumpled paper encased in glass is a symbol for the creative process. A total of 6,000 Euro will be awarded in cash prizes in the Design Fiction category. Additionally, up to five Merit Awards per category may be awarded. Furthermore, the international ico-D Excellence Award will honour a project displaying outstanding design merits.

The winners will be publicly disclosed on 8 November 2018 within the framework of a festive presentation of the selected and prize-winning entries, to be held in Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier. The awarded projects will be presented for a period of several weeks in an exhibition at designforum Wien and afterwards as touring exhibition in several European cities.

The Joseph Binder Award is an international competition with a focus on graphic design and illustration and was first launched in 1996 by designaustria, the interest organization and knowledge center for design in Austria. It is named after one of the most outstanding graphic designers and illustrators active in Austria between the two World Wars, who subsequently also revolutionized visual communication in the United States.
Joseph Binder Award 2018 – Entry Fees

Entry fee starts at 55 Euro for Students and varies for other participants. All fees are discounted by 10% until 28 February 2018.
