Fifteen PhD studentships are available within the new Marie Skłodowska-Curie Initial Training Network in Photonics: PROMIS - Postgraduate Research on Dilute Metamorphic Nanostructures and Metamaterials in Semiconductor Photonics with the prestige and attractive financial package that comes with being a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow.
The PROMIS network brings together a well-balanced consortium of 8 academic partners, 2 industry partners and 8 associated partners, within Europe having world-leading expertise. The network will train a cohort of 15 early stage researchers in the full range of skills required for a career in photonics, including materials growth, device fabrication, characterisation, design, theory, and commercialisation. These skills will be applied in developing advanced photonic materials and devices for four application areas: Information and Communications, Security, Energy and Environment. Each researcher will experience both academic and commercial environments thanks to the strong industrial involvement, resulting in multi-skilled, industry-focused graduates.
A variety of stimulating and challenging projects in different aspects of photonics are offered from the various partners:
Lancaster University (UK), University of Nottingham (UK), University of Sheffield (UK); Tyndall-University College of Cork (Ireland), III-V Lab (France), University of Cadiz (Spain), University of Montpelier (France), Sapienza Universita‘ di Roma (Italy), Sgenia (Spain), Phillips University of Marburg (Germany).
