The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences, Foundation of Research and Technology - Hellas, (FORTH/ICE-HT) is seeking applicants for one PhD fellowship in the context of the research project "Graphene Flagship Core Project 2, GA: 785219". The project is implemented under the EU-Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Actions (RIA) and is financially supported by EC-financed parts of the Graphene Flagship.
To conduct research in the framework of the aforementioned project "Graphene Flagship Core Project 2, GA: 785219". The aim of this research is to produce highly anisotropic composites in a different way, using bottom-up techniques based upon CVD graphene, combining wet transfer and floating methods. In particular, GRM/polymer plies and macro-scale laminates with various morphologies will be produced. These composites will be tailored to specific applications by interface engineering, e.g. by insertion of defects for adhesion and inducing corrugations. In addition, an extended study should take place on the efficiency of mechanical loading.
The potential candidate should be responsible for the following main tasks:
a) Preparation of graphene nano-laminates using novel methods and procedures
b) Assessing the properties of produced materials using techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) in conjunction with mechanical testing.
Location: FORTH/ICE-HT, Patras, Greece
Duration: 10 months, with a potential of renewal according to the needs of the project
Salary: Up to 850 € per month
Envisaged starting date: 1/6/2018
Interested candidates who meet the aforementioned requirements should submit their applications, no later than Wednesday, 10 May 2018, 23:59h., by email to Kleanthi Zacharopoulou: kleanthi@iceht.forth.gr.
