The trainee will have a traineeship in the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment (ELSA) Unit, where he/she will be integrated in a team dealing with the seismic risk assessment of the urban building stock across the European Union.
The tasks deal with the collection and review of the fragility curves available in the technical literature and their evaluation according to a set of criteria in order to select the most appropriate ones for each building class and geographic region. The trainee will prepare a technical report at the end of his/her stay.
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a University degree in civil/structural engineering and an MSc in a field relevant to the topic of the call. Applications from students currently preparing a thesis for an MSc degree are eligible. A good knowledge of the English language (level B2) is essential. Candidates must have good analysing and problem-solving skills. Previous research or professional experience in seismic risk assessment will be considered an advantage.
Indicative duration 5 months.
