The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a Research Assistant(s) who will work at STARC of the Cyprus Institute in Nicosia, in the field of digital archaeology (3D data processing, digital libraries) and archaeological sciences (use of XRF, digital microscopy) to provide research assistantship in related activities. Candidates must have a good knowledge of Archaeology of Cyprus, in particular the later prehistory periods and its terracotta sculpture remains, and a good knowledge on main theoretical challenges of digital archaeology today.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be participating in the following:
- Laboratory work – analysis of samples with XRF, digital microscope
- Assistance in the preparation of reference collections of pigments
- Assistance in the preparation of scientific reports and related articles
- 3D data acquisition and 3D post-processing
- Data ingestion in repository
- Preparation of scientific reports
- Assistance in the preparation of deliverables and activity reports for EU projects involved.
Candidate Profile
- At least a BA/BSc degree in subjects such as:
- Chemical / physical analysis of archaeological artifacts
- 3D Digital Archaeology
- Archaeology of Cyprus, in particular later prehistory periods
- Art History analysis of terracotta sculptures
- At least 1 year of previous relevant experience
- Proven ability to write scientific articles and present scientific results at conferences
- Proficiency in oral and written English. Knowledge of the Greek language will be considered an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
