PhD-N-1:AC/DC Transmission System Planning Under Uncertainty
PhD-N-2: Traveling wave protection of future power grids
PhD-N-3: Investigation of DC protection connected to low inertia AC systems
PhD-B-1: Grid modeling for systems with extreme amounts of renewable energy

Profile

For PhD-N-1 and PhD-B-1:
- You have a Master of Science degree in operations research, computer sciences, power systems or electrical engineering with a solid background in (convex) optimization and a high interest in power systems
- You have knowledge of one or more modelling tools for optimization problems, such as Julia, Python, AMPL, GAMS, Matlab, ….
- Starting date spring 2019 or earlier

For PhD-N-2 and PhD-N-3:
- You have a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering, with a solid background in either electromagnetics or power systems
- You have knowledge of power system simulation software (PSCAD, EMTP-RV, RSCAD, Digsilent power factory,...).
- Starting date October 2019 or earlier

For all positions:
- Masters degree preferably from a reputable institute from a country within the European Economic Area.
- You should have obtained excellent study results.
- You should have the ambition to become a junior expert in the relevant topic and be highly motivated for a 4 year PhD project.
- Interested to work in a team with experts studying different aspects of power systems.
- You should be willing to occasional travel in framework of the project.
- Your willingness to support teaching activities of the research team is essential.
- You are able to communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.
