The KOF Swiss Economic Institute at the ETH Zurich is looking for (start by agreement) Economists / Econometricians (PhD students, Post-docs and/or Senior Researchers)

The KOF Swiss Economic Institute is the leading institute for research in applied economics in Switzerland (www.kof.ethz.ch). The institute and its members work in close collaboration with the Center for Economic Research (www.cer.ethz.ch) at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (MTEC) at the ETH Zurich. Our research activities concentrate on the Swiss and international business cycle developments and on the structure of the Swiss economy. KOF is the most important provider of indicators and forecasts for the Swiss economy.

Successful candidates are expected to conduct applied econometric research and are interested in fields related to business tendency surveys and economic forecasting. Furthermore, you will be integrated in the team carrying out business tendency surveys for Switzerland. Your areas of responsibility include the implementation, analysis and commentary of KOF surveys and forecasting activities regarding the construction sector in Switzerland. Besides actively participating in survey activities and forecasting projects, you are expected to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals.

You have a solid background in economics, particularly good knowledge of econometric methods and knowledge of both, German and English. You have knowledge of econometric/statistical software. You are willing to become familiar with the software R and/or to improve your programming skills with this software. Of advantage are already existing good knowledge of R and knowledge in the field of data management. Depending upon your experience, the appointment includes the opportunity of writing a PhD thesis or a “Habilitation”.
