We are pleased to announce a new Junior Research Group Leader position in the field of myocardial infarction with a focus on the early healing phase and interrelationships with comorbidities. The research focus should complement key research topics of the CRC1116 such as inflammation, metabolism and systems communication. The group will be associated with the Collaborative Research Centre 1116 (CRC 1116). The CRC 1116 aims to support the early career development of highly qualified researchers. The position will enable them to further develop their scientific careers as a leader of an independent junior research group. The funding for the junior research group will be provided by the Medical Faculty of the Heinrich Heine University for four years and is endowed with an additional PhD position plus consumables. The long term goal of this position is the successful development of a new principal investigator with a well-established project for the next CRC 1116 funding proposal in 2023.
Selection criteria are:
- Excellent PhD thesis
- Approximately 2 years of post-doctoral research experience and maximum of 4 years post PhD
- Strong scientific track record
- Scientific project that complements and/or extends current CRC 1116 projects in acute myocardial infarction and recovery
The individual research projects seeking PhD students are:
- A01 Ventricular arrhythmogenesis by ion-channel remodeling after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) – Prof. Dr. med. Klöcker
- A02 Molecular basis of disturbed sarcomere function in diabetic and non-diabetic remote myocardium – Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Krüger/Prof. Dr. med. Schmitt
- B01 The CD73-adenosine-Interleukin 6-type cytokines axis in myocardial Infarction – Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Scheller/ Prof. Dr. med. J. Schrader
- B11 Cardioprotection by functional and dysfunctional High-density lipoproteins (HDL) in comorbidities: molecular mechanisms and therapeutic exploitation - Prof. Dr. med. Levkau/PD Dr. med. Polzin
- B12 Insulin resistance, diabetes and metabolic liver diseases in acute myocardial infarction - Prof. Dr. med. Roden/ Prof. Dr. med. Kelm
Your qualifications:
We are seeking to recruit highly qualified, energetic and dynamic graduate students holding a M.Sc. degree. We need open-minded candidates with a strong biology background and experiences in general molecular biology. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory.
