The Division of Genomics and RNomics at the Innsbruck Biocentre (Austria) invites applications for: Doctoral or Postdoctoral positions (functions of ncRNAs in human diseases)
Our institute is currently involved in two larger research consortia: one is an EU-funded project, which deals with the identification of ncRNAs involved in neuropathic pain. The goal of the project is to identify novel ncRNAs as tools for diagnosis and treatment of neuropathic pain. The second project, an SFB, deals with the identification of ncRNAs in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s diseases. To that end, we have generated a custom neuro-ncRNA chip and have identified specific ncRNAs, differentially expressed in these diseases, which now await further functional characterization.
We are looking for highly motivated, team-oriented graduate students or postgraduates (postdocs) with a strong interest/background in ncRNA Biology. Candidates should have an excellent master/diploma degree in Life Sciences (e.g. Molecular Biology, Molecular Medicine, Biochemistry), preferable with expertise in nucleic acid (i.e. RNA) research.
