Young Audiences Music Awards (YAMawards) promote and honour creativity and innovation in the field of music for young audiences.
The 10th edition of the YAMawards is now open and officially accepting applications!
Participation is open to all music-based live productions for audiences up to 18 years of age. Whether soloist, group, ensemble or orchestra, the main criteria are: quality of music, quality of performance, relevance/necessity of the program, audience communication and international touring potential. YAMawards will be open to 4 distinct categories, each with their own winner:
- Best Small Ensemble for young audiences
- Best Large Ensemble for young audiences
- Best Opera for young audiences*
- Best Participation project with young audiences** On top of these accolades is the Public Choice Award (selected from the top 4 nominees in each category) by public vote.
Previous winners include Cie Balle Rouge (France), Rikskonsertene/Kulturtanken (Norway), Oorkaan (The Netherlands), Smalands Musik&Teater (Sweden), Body Rhythm Factory (Denmark), Zonzo Compagnie (Belgium), Jazz for Juniors (South Africa) and Muziektheater Transparant (Belgium).
*The YAM Best Opera for Young Audiences Award is powered by RESEO, The European Network for Opera and Dance Education.
** The Best Participation project with Young Audiences is a new awards created to celebrate projects with a predominately social/educational focus, productions that are a participatory process, working with young audiences either as an engaged audiences or as co-creators in the production itself.
Prizes
YAMawards winners will receive cash prizes in the following categories:
- Best Small Ensemble for Young Audiences: €1000
- Best Large Ensemble for Young Audiences: €1000
- Best Opera for Young Audiences : €1000 (Powered by RESEO)
- Public Choice Award: €1000
A representative from each nominee will be invited to the YAMawards Ceremony in Horsens, Denmark.
