The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit science and technology institution based in Cyprus and led by an acclaimed Board of Trustees. The research aims of the Cyprus Institute are represented by three research centers: the Computation-based Science and Technology Research Center (CASTORC), the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC), and the Energy Environment Water Research Center (EEWRC). Considerable cross-center interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s culture.
The Cyprus Institute invites applications for an Internship in Advanced Imaging for Art and Cultural Heritage. The successful candidate will join the team of the Imaging Center for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage and will be affiliated with CyI’s Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC). He/she will be trained and will contribute in the application of advanced digital imaging techniques for cultural heritage and the preparation of the related database. The intern will be expected to contribute full-time to the digital documentation of cultural heritage materials as well as to prepare the related text descriptions and their entry in the appropriate databases.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be participating in the following:
- Digital documentation of artefacts
- Post-processing of images and digital files
- Preparation of descriptions for documented objects
- Population of related databases
Required Qualifications, knowledge and skills
- BA/BSc degree in Arts, Cultural Heritage or Archaeology
- Skills in digital photography
- Skills in imaging software
- Strong analytical, organizational and writing skills
- Knowledge of art materials and their use
- Proficiency in oral and written English. Knowledge of the Greek language will be considered an advantage.
Additional desirable skills and knowledge:
- Proven experience in imaging technologies will be considered an advantage
- Knowledge of office IT tools
