The EVS project “Decide and develop” involves 4 young people and young people with fewer possibilities from 2 European countries on short term volunteering in 2 periods (2 volunteers from 1 September – 29 October 2015, and 2 from 1 November – 29 December 2015) in Labin, Croatia.
Project will be done in a non formal way of learning. This project, as well as the activities within it, were designed in order to have a significant educational effect on volunteers’ lives and on lives of people around them, as well as to value youth club work, volunteerism, active participation, EU citizenship by empowering young people and supporting peer to peer education. Desired impact is to influence volunteers future life by showing them the rules of creativity, decision making, responsibility and leadership, as well as to spread the word about Erasmus + programme and its open opportunities.
All activities and tasks will be in agreement with the selected volunteers. Volunteers are welcomed to suggest their own project, activity or workshop to implement it alone or with organization’s members or local volunteers. They will be involved from Monday to Friday in the activities of the association for a maximum of 35 weekly hours. Usually weekends will be free. Sometimes, anyway, there will be events that will take place during the weekends, in these cases, volunteers will have day-off during the week.
Main role and tasks of the volunteers will be volunteering in local youth club by organizing and implementing activities for youth such as sport tournaments, outdoor and indoor activities, social games night, cinema night, organizing workshops, seminars and presentations for youth in non formal way of education on different themes as well as educational workshops (recycle workshop, language workshop, creative workshop, music workshop, workshop related to the promotion of the country of origin of the volunteers by teaching games, songs and words in their native language: bringing their culture and customs into the local community…), making treasure and challenge hunting for youth who comes to the youth club, promoting youth club (handling leaflets, doing guerrilla marketing, publishing youth club activities on association web page and on social networks,..). Next to the main roles there are several specific areas of activities volunteers could work on (depending on their own abilities and wishes) one/two times per week: media (creating advertisement for youth events: adverts, articles, short movies, videos, leaflets etc. realize their creativity and ideas by doing this); art (initiate new artistic workshop for youth club: dances, drawing, theatre, photography etc. especially related with their culture); sports (casual or non traditional sport activities); language (teaching local youngsters their language); other ideas (we are open to all volunteer’s ideas/proposals and they will get our full support for realizing them).
Eligibility
Candidates are invited to apply from EU countries only. They should be aged 20 – 30, young unemployed or having a hard time with finding a job, interested in children and youth work, youth politics, art and culture and youth information work. Volunteers are expected to be willing to participate in the social and community life, share his/her experience and culture, help creating and implementing projects, initiatives, activities for youth and interested in different cultures and in intercultural learning. A great asset is to be mature to work and to relate to other young people with fewer opportunities and willing to develop activities with sense of responsibility. Volunteers must have good knowledge of English language.
