Communication systems lab at Department of Future Technologies, University of Turku is looking for project researchers / PhD candidates on security and safety of autonomous road vehicles. The positions are fixed term employment that starts as soon as possible and ends 30.4.2021. The positions are part of the ECSEL funded Programmable Systems for Intelligence in Automobiles (PRYSTINE) project. It involves 60 prominent industry players, universities, and research institutes all over Europe. The overall aim of the project is developing fail-operational urban surround perception (FUSION) to enable safe automated driving in urban and rural environments. There are two positions available that require different skills and expertise: security and safety engineering, and embedded systems integration for intelligent controller for autonomous vehicles.
Contribution to the project include requirements specification, system-level design, system integration, and validation through live testing of a vehicle equipped with the fail-operational autonomous controller developed in the project. The project researchers will, depending on their expertise and profile,
Participate in requirement specification of the intelligent controller and communication infrastructure
Do system level design, analysis, integration, and validation for the controller
Develop security solutions for autonomous systems, encompassing communication links, components, and data protection
Participate in live testing of the developed controller in a heavy-duty vehicle demonstrator built for the project
Publish the results of their work in international scientific publications
