4 Associate First Reception Experts at the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC)

The International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) is an international operating non-governmental organisation serving and protecting uprooted people – refugees, internally displaced persons and migrants – regardless of faith, race, ethnicity or nationality. In the framework of an agreement with UNHCR, ICMC has been designated to urgently recruit and deploy four (4) Associate First Reception Experts to work with UNHCR Greece, which has undertaken to support the Greek authorities in efforts to address the urgent situation at Greece’s sea entry points.

The Associate First Reception Experts will be deployed to the islands of Kos (1), Chios (1), Samos (1) and Leros (1), for the purpose of supporting the Greek authorities in efforts to strengthen the first reception response to new arrivals in mixed migratory movements in the respective region. The Associate First Reception Experts will report to the Legal Coordinator and the Associate Legal Coordinator and work under the overall supervision of the UNHCR Greece Senior Protection Associate. The incumbents will be based on the islands of Kos, Chios, Samos and Leros, respectively, and will work in their respective duty station, at various facilities, including police-stations, port areas, ad hoc structures, where new arrivals are received. There is the possibility of incumbents conducting missions to other locations as well as of working outside regular working hours, in case required.

Qualifications and key competencies:
- University degree (BA) in Law, Social Science, Political Science, International Relations or other relevant discipline;
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience, in particular, in the human rights, humanitarian or refugee field;
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills and ability to work in a multicultural team;
- Excellent oral and written Greek and English language skills;
- Good research, writing and analytical skills;
- Knowledge and understanding of the asylum situation in Greece
