The University of Cologne is one of the largest and most research-intensive universities in Germany, offering a wide range of subjects. With its six faculties and its interfaculty centres, it offers a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines and internationally outstanding profile areas, supported by the administration with its services.
the research training group 2550 (www.grk2550.uni-koeln.de) aims at understanding how the astonishing adaptability of biological systems can be achieved by dynamic protein relocalization. To this end, an interdisciplinary group from the fields of chemistry, biochemistry and biology will characterize the mechanisms underlying the dynamic regulation of protein localization and the physiological conditions that drive it. The research training group is intended to provide structured training for German and international doctoral candidates, who are selected according to the criteria of an outstanding academic profile.
YOUR TASKS
Doctoral candidates in the RTG will perform experiments on individual relocalizing proteins and on the dedicated machineries controlling and driving relocalization. They will employ unbiased -omics approaches to generalize their findings and will develop novel tools to modulate relocalization processes.
