School of Biological Sciences Queen's University Belfast is recruiting two Research Fellows who will be highly productive, ambitious and collaborative members of the Fish Genetics Research Group led by Prof. Paulo Prodöhl in the Institute for Global Food Security at the School of Biological Sciences. The first position is linked to the BEYOND 2020 (Burrishoole Ecosystem Observatory Network 2020 - https://www.dkit.ie/beyond-2020) and the second position is linked to the FishKOSM (Fisheries Knowledge for Optimal Sustainable Management) multi-institute projects. Capitalising on the existence of “in-house” modern genomics infrastructures and bioinformatics capacity, the successful candidates will develop and implement metabarcoding and metagenomics protocols for examining food web structures for several key fish species in the freshwater (Beyond 2020) or the marine environment (FishKOSM). The successful candidates will be responsible for independent research, supervision, planning, day-to-day lab management, collaborations and outreach. The positions are based at Queen’s University Belfast. The successful candidates will be joining a multidisciplinary/multi-institutional team of researchers and other Ph.D. students, and will be will working closely with project collaborators in University College Cork, Marine Institute Ireland, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Dublin City University, University College Dublin and University of Glasgow.
