The Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (Centre for Oil and Gas – DTU), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applicants for PhD positions on numerical modelling of coupled processes in (fractured) chalk reservoirs. Centre for Oil and Gas – DTU is established by the Danish Underground Consortium and DTU. As part of a national strategy on oil and gas, the research centre is an ambitious, targeted effort to improve recovery of oil and gas from the Danish North Sea and to reduce environmental footprints.
The main objective of the projects is to study different recovery scenarios in porous chalk media in precnece of natural heterogeneities (e.g. fractures). We aim to describe in detail the response of the (fractured) chalk formations to multiple recovery solutions under reservoir conditions by investigating how the different physical processes vary in their manifestation in complex chalk media from micro- to field-scale. The positions will be an integrated part of our research programmes with the focus on understanding the flow behaviour in chalk reservoirs in the Danish part of the North Sea.
