The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. We offer attractive technical education at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct advanced research in several technological areas. The School of Engineering is able to award doctorates in the area of industrial product realisation. We collaborate with the surrounding society to develop new technology and spread knowledge to strengthen the competitiveness of companies. You work closely with colleagues in an international environment with great opportunities to influence and develop.
The Department of Industrial Product Development, Production and Design conducts education and research in areas such as product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programs at our campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two educational programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.
The department is looking for four (4) doctoral students to the graduate school Industrial Product Realisation in the subjects of Production Systems and Machine Design for the research project Integrated Product and Production Platforms Supporting Agile and Demand Driven Product Realisation (IDEAL).
JOB DESCRIPTION
The aim of the project is to further develop methods, models and demonstrators to support manufacturing companies to develop and integrate their product and production platforms.
The ambition is to develop knowledge that can support manufacturing companies to reach efficiency in offering unique products and yet being agile to changes in markets, legislations, technology and stakeholders’ demands.
As a doctoral student, your work will mainly be research studies and research project work focusing on integrated product and production platforms in one of the following subprojects (A to D):
Subproject A: Changeable product platforms
with focus on design and development of changeable product platforms where the integration with the production platform is coordinated for enhanced producibility and efficient production preparation.
Subproject B: Production platform co-development
with focus on production platform development and strategies for changeable production systems. The co-development with the product platform is central to successfully achieve integration.
Subproject C: Digitalization and automation of integrated product and production platforms
with focus on platform engineering processes to support efficient development, use, and improvement.
Subproject D: Boundary objects supporting integrated platform development
with focus on knowledge integration and crossing of boundaries between the product and production domains to support agile and demand driven product realisation.
