Dresden International PhD Program, Germany (2015-2016)

The Dresden International PhD Program is the perfect place for curious young scientists with a vivid interest in science and research, the desire to be an active part of our highly international and interactive community, and the ambition to contribute something really extraordinary. We expect a truly excellent academic performance and prior research experience along with the potential and enthusiasm to conduct challenging, top-notch research towards a PhD in a trans-disciplinary and competitive environment. We offer training, guidance and mentoring, we support early independence, and we encourage PhD students to profit from the wide expertise and state-of-the-art research facilities available on campus.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to Dresden for interviews. Participation in the interview week in Dresden is indispensable if you wish to enter the Dresden International PhD Program.

We offer research in the following tracks:
- Cell and Developmental Biology (CellDevo Track)
- Computational Biology (CompBio Track)
- Molecular Bioengineering and Biophysics (BioPhysEng Track)
- Regenerative Medicine (RegMed Track)

Distinctive proficiency in textbook knowledge of the relevant scientific disciplines is essential. Applicants must hold, or anticipate receiving before taking up PhD thesis work, an undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Life sciences
- Natural sciences
- Engineering
- Computer Science
- Physics
- Applied mathematics
- Medicine

In general, a very good Master degree or equivalent is required. Applicants holding an excellent BSc degree are also welcome to apply, given that independent research and a written thesis is part of the curriculum. Candidates holding a medical degree must have completed their course of study before starting their PhD thesis, including the exam equivalent to the German 2nd State Exam.
