The DFG Research Training Group HighRR – High Resolution and High Rate Detectors in Nuclear and Particle Physics at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Heidelberg University invites applications for Doctoral Fellowships in Particle Detector Research
The new HighRR Research Training Group 2058 is dedicated to the development and application of modern detector systems for particle and nuclear physics experiments. It is embedded in a research environment with long-standing experience in instrumentation. Participation in one of the three LHC experiments ATLAS, ALICE and LHCb as well as in several other research projects (e.g. CALICE, CBM, ECHo, Mu3e) is possible. Work on spin-off applications e.g. medical imaging or fast X-ray cameras for synchrotron experiments is also pursued.
Highly qualified and motivated national and international students are invited to apply. Applicants should preferably hold a Masters or equivalent degree in physics. Excellent candidates holding a four year bachelor degree and proof of research experience may also be considered. At equal level of qualification, preference will be given to disabled candidates. Female students are particularly encouraged to apply.
